We first opened our doors more than 20 years ago, bringing authentic sushi craftsmanship to the heart of Downtown San Diego. From day one, our mission has been simple: serve exceptional food with genuine hospitality.
Original Downtown Location
Our original home at 135 Broadway in Downtown San Diego became a beloved destination for residents, office workers, and visitors seeking quality sushi in a welcoming atmosphere.
Relocation to North Park
In recent years, we made the exciting move to the vibrant North Park neighborhood. This relocation allowed us to serve a new community while bringing our established traditions to a fresh, welcoming space.

While our address has changed, our commitment has not. Under owner Kuniko Holmes' continued leadership, we maintain the same dedication to quality ingredients, skilled preparation, and warm service that has defined us for generations.

Her passion for authentic Japanese cuisine began early, inspired by family traditions and refined through years of dedicated craftsmanship. Kuniko believes that exceptional sushi is about more than fresh ingredients—it's about the care, precision, and respect poured into every roll.
Under her leadership, Sushi 2 has maintained its commitment to quality while evolving to welcome a new community. Kuniko is often found behind the sushi bar, personally ensuring each dish meets her exacting standards and that every guest feels the warmth of genuine hospitality.
